Cycling Tips to Ride 100 Miles

There are various techniques needed to make you fit enough for enduring 100 miles in the saddle.

It’s not all about going out on your bike for hours on end to build up your stamina, although that is a good start, there’s much more to it than that.

Here are some top tips to help:

  • Equipment Heart rate monitors come in all shapes, sizes and prices. They enable you keep track of your cycling performance. You will be able to monitor that you are training in the right zones that will help keep you at the optimum level to increase your fitness.
  • Having the right type of saddle is also important to keep you comfortable for long periods of time.
  • Technique Being in your highest gear is not always appropriate, so make sure you’re able to improve your efficiency by having the correct cadence. Your legs need to spin freely to stop your muscles from becoming too tired. It can really make a big difference to your efficiency.
  • Nutrition Eating the right foods will give your body the energy it needs for long distances. You need to make sure that not only that you have fuelled your body before going out on a long ride but that you keep it topped up with energy bars or energy drinks

Remember that above all, cycling is a fun activity and even if you are attempting a long ride you still need to enjoy yourself.
