Picking the Perfect Gift For a Skier

The snow is starting to fall at ski resorts all over the northern hemisphere. With the fresh snow comes new gift giving opportunities. If you have a skier on your Christmas list, few gifts will pack as much value to a skier than the following gift ideas:

Goggles

A new pair of ski goggles will surely be appreciated by any skier. Goggles can get scratched and the elastic that keeps the goggles nestled tightly against your face can become loose. Every season, new models of goggles are available, many using improved technology for improved contrast, less glare, greater comfort and better scratch resistance. Even if they already have a pair of goggles, any skier could always use a backup pair.

Ski Pass

If you know what their favorite ski resort is, the perfect gift may be a season ski pass for that resort or mountain. Luckily, you can often buy a season ski pass on the official web site of the resort. Some ski passes are for the whole season, others can be for a month, or just a week. There are also passes that provide access to several resorts or all the ski resorts in a certain area. For instance, there is a pass that gives you unrestricted and unlimited access to Vail, Beaver Creek, Breckenridge, Keystone and Heavenly resorts for the entire ski season. If you know your skier uses these resorts, then this would be a tremendously valuable and thoughtful gift.

Gloves

Gloves are some of the most harshly treated accessories that skiers use. A new pair of gloves would be a welcome gift, even if they already have a new pair. Every skier can use an extra pair of gloves.

Accessories

There are some interesting accessory options you may consider. How about a new ski carrier or sling? Warm socks are always needed and could make a good stocking stuffer. If the skier is young or a beginner, consider getting them some safety accessories like a wrist strap, knee pads or a helmet. Ski wax is another nice stocking stuffer. Headwear is also a good idea. Headwear like a hat, ski cap or ear muffs.

Fun Stuff

There are some other fun options for gifts for the skier on your list. How about a vintage ski poster? It can be hung in an office, bedroom, game room or living room and would add charm and character to any ski buffs home. Consider some fancy hot cocoa with mugs or a portable video game system with a ski game.

Gift Certificates

Last but not least, consider gift certificates to a local ski store or online ski store. This is a great gift for a skier that may need some new ski clothes, a jacket or skis, items that may need to be tried on before they are bought. This way you need not worry about getting them the wrong sizes.

No matter the gift you choose, any skier will greatly appreciate that you took the time to shop for gifts that will enhance their favorite sport.
