The Burton Snowboard – Ultimate Shred Machine
Nov 16th, 2009 | By coolbiking | Category: SnowboardBy Joe Falcon
I have been snowboarding for around 15 years. I started out in Missoula Montana at the Marshall and Snowbowl Ski Areas. Since then I have tested a variety of mountains in Colorado and Utah. I have gone through a huge number of boards in a search to find the perfect ride.
I normally ride each season with two or three different boards. This means I need to do a swap out every once in awhile to make sure I’m not missing out on something better. Many of you hardcore riders know exactly what I’m talking about.
In my search for the Holy Grail I consider three factors: responsiveness for ticks and style, weight for big air and speed for days when that’s all I care about. Burton Custom X Snowboard exceeds all three of these qualifications. This is one awesome all mountain board.
This board offers everything. It has a wood core that gives it a natural feel and quality response that you can count on time and time again. It is perfect for riding rails and with its compact size you have less mass to throw around.
The board is super light so it rockets of jumps and offers quality landings. The first time I tested it I was so shocked by the massive spring it provided. It is definitely a true “big-air” board.
Another plus is that the board is nearly indestructible. You aren’t going to break it from riding alone, you aren’t going to crack it regardless of how hard you slam into something, and it wont warp over time. The top surface seems to wear off quickly, but this can easily be remedied by applying extra layers of wax.
Many people scoff at the hefty price tag in the neighborhood of $650 to $750, but those that are serious about their experience will pay extra for performance. It is better than most free ride boards and freestyle boards combined. For an all around ride this board can’t be beat.
In conclusion, if you have the money, buy this board!
